HEALTHCARE AND HEALTH INSURANCE RESOURCES FOR ELDERLY PEOPLERegular exercise is beneficial to everyone including the elderly persons in order to keep healthy. It is an established fact that regular exercise helps you to loose weight. It is often seen that elderly people tend to get overweight with age and thus they become more prone to health complications. Muscle-strengthening exercises like tai chi reduces the possibility of bones being fractured very easily. The pain and disability caused due to knee osteoarthritis in senior adults can be considerably reduced with moderate exercises. Tips for a healthy diet : • Avoid buffet: Buffet meals are not served by anyone but they are presented in such an enticing manner, that people cannot control their temptation and thus go an extra mile in increasing their calories. So next time when you are planning to eat outside, avoid the restaurants which offer a buffet meal. • Steamed is better than fried: look for dishes which are steamed instead of the fried ones. Ask the restaurant people if they have anything light or whether it’ll be possible for them to cook something with less oil for you. • Soups should not be cream based: when you are ordering soups, go for broth based ones. They are much healthier than their cream based counterparts. • Avoid sweet desserts: it might be the hardest thing you’ll ever do for yourself since sweet desserts are so tempting, but try to have a fresh fruit dessert for your own good. • Check your temptation : don’t keep your stomach empty the whole day only because you will be able to eat more in the night. • Booze carefully : watch the amount of alcohol you’re consuming on a night out. Since it is irregular for you, it could be even more harmful than the regular ones. |
